Prime Video Releases Concept And Trailer For Sci-Fi Comedy ‘The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy’

According to an official press release, Prime Video has just released a trailer and key concept for their upcoming sci-fi comedy animated show, The Second Best Hospital in the Galaxy. The show will follow the perspective of best friends, and renowned doctors and surgeons, Klak, voiced by Keke Palmer (Lightyear), and Sleech, voiced by Stephanie Hsu (Blue Eye Samurai), as they put their careers on the line and take on an impossible case. Along with Palmer and Hsu, additional regulars will consist of Maya Rudolph (Big Hero 6), Natasha Lyonne (Russian Dolls), Kieran Culkin (Home Alone), and Sam Smith (Pitch Perfect 2). The series will act as a family reunion for Culkin as his brothers Macaulay Culkin (The Good Son), Rory Culkin (Signs), Christian Culkin (Summer Story), and Shane Culkin (Great Performances) will be joining the cast’s guest list. Additional guest stars include Tracee Ellis Ross (American Fiction, Black-ish), Bowen Yang (Saturday Night Live, Fire Island), Abbi Jacobson (Broad City), Jay Ellis (Top Gun: Maverick, Insecure), Andrew Dismukes (Saturday Night Live), Lennon Parham (Minx), Gary Anthony Williams (Night Court), and John Waters (Hairspray).

Showrunner Cirocco Dunlap (Waffles+Mochi) will act as the screenwriter and executive producer for Animal Picturea, along with Rudolph, Danielle Renfrew Behrens (Double Dare), and Lyonne. For the animation house, Titmouse, Ben Kalina (The Midnight Gospel), Shauna McGarry (Tuca & Bertie), Chris Pyrnoski (Motorcity), Shannon Prynoski (Her), and Antonio Canobbio (Niko and the Sword of Light) will also executive produce. Artist and animator Robin Eisenberg (Chelou: Out of Sight) will co-produce and serve as production designer.

The official press release reports the series received a two-season order, and will be produced by Amazon MGM Studios and animation house, Titmouse Studios. Releasing worldwide in over 240 countries, the series is scheduled to make its televised debut on February 23, exclusively on Prime Video.
