According to Deadline, Prime Video has ordered the animated series Hazbin Hotel for two seasons. The series comes from A24 and Fox’s Bento Box Entertainment. Season one will premiere in January.
It was created by Vivienne Medrano (Helluva Boss, Ollie and Scoops). The pilot episode was released on Medrano’s YouTube channel four years ago and received over 80 million views.
Hazbin Hotel season one consists of eight episodes and follows the princess of Hell, Charlie, as she works towards the seemingly impossible goal of peacefully rehabilitating demons to reduce overpopulation. She opens a hotel to try and get her patrons to check out into Heaven. Vaggie is Charlie’s devoted partner and Angel Dust is an adult film-star who is also Charlie and Vaggie’s first test subject. Charlie is mocked for her goal by most of Hell, but Angel Dust and Vaggie stick by her.
Medrano directs all eight episodes and executive produces with Joel Kuwahara (Bob’s Burgeres, The Simpsons) and Dana Tafoya-Cameron (Koala Man, The Prince), along with former Bento Box Entertainment CEO Scott Greenberg (Hellboy Animated: Sword of Storms, The Simpsons Movie).
The pilot episode released on YouTube on October 28, 2019 stars Elsie Lovelock (Murder Drones, Spooky Month) as Charlie, Michael Kovach (Murder Drones, Dragon Goes House-Hunting) as Angel Dust, Edward Bosco (Hulk: Where Monsters Dwell, Helluva Boss) as Alastor, Mónica Franco (JonTron, Blood Sun Vendetta) as Vaggie, Mick Lauer (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Lego City Adventures) as Husk, Krystal LaPorte (Beyond the Boundary, Black Bullet) as Cherri Bomb, Joshua Tomar (Smiling Friends, Alpha and Omega) as Tom Trench, and Michelle Marie (Hello Kitty and Friends Supercute Adventure, Hazbin Hotel) as Niffty.
The cast also included James Monroe Iglehart (Kiff, Helluva Boss) as Bar Patron, Faye Mata (Miraculous: Tales of Ladybug and Cat Noir, Lego Friends) as Katie Killjoy, Dave Capdevielle (Far-Fetched, In Search of Darkness) as The Microphone, Joe Gran (Shrek Retold, Hazbin Hotel) as Egg Bois, and Don Darryl Rivera (Let the Right One In, Hazbin Hotel) as Travis.
