President Obama’s Final ‘Daily Show’ Appearance as President Premieres Next Week

President Obama has set aside time to make one last stop at The Daily Show before leaving office.

Deadline reports that the President will appear on an episode of next week’s The Daily Show with Trevor Noah for an extensive White House interview. Though this won’t be Obama’s first time on The Daily Show, it will be his first appearance since Trevor Noah’s takeover of the show. The Obama interview is set to air Monday, December 12th at 11:00 pm and will air simultaneously on MTV and BET.

Noah’s hosting stint so far has been a mostly positive mixed bag. Jon Stewart had such an identifiable voice in comedy/politics, which has made Noah’s job of crafting a unique Daily Show experience of his own that much harder. Noah did make waves recently though with his even-handed interview of conservative media figure Tomi Lahren.

Next week’s appearance will mark the eighth time that President Obama has stopped by The Daily Show. He appeared seven times in Stewart’s tenure, beginning in 2005 up until just before Stewart’s final show in 2015. President Obama is a major guest, but Noah has some experience interviewing political heavyweights. Noah has welcomed figures like President Bill Clinton, Governor Chris Christie, and Senator Rand Paul to The Daily Show.
