Portlandia Reunites the Band as Fred Armisen is joined by Henry Rollins and Krist Novoselic

In a clip from the season 8 premiere of Portlandia, Fred Armisen’s character Spyke reunites the members of his band Riot Spray. The Rolling Stone coverage of this riotous clip also features Henry Rollins, Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, and Fugazi drummer Brendan Canty.

Spyke is livid over the current political landscape casting aside plans on moving to Canada, opting to anger the government with the rantings of Riot Spray. As the band members gather in the basement, memories of Reagan-era strife are shared as well as the distress over Super Bowl Halftime shows.

Eventually Spyke focuses the guys on rehearsing their song, I Refuse. Rollins brings the humor by asking if he should soften the tone of his vocals. After doing a run through of the song, Rollins again drops in the irony by asking for some herbal tea.

Find season 8 of Portlandia on IFC starting January 18. The tentative cast of characters will include Tracy Ellis Ross, Nick Kroll and Terry Crews.
