Peacock Casts Taraji P. Henson In Muhammad Ali Series ‘Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist’

According to Deadline, Peacock has cast Taraji P. Henson (EmpireHidden Figures) for the limited series Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist. Henson has been cast as Vivian Thomas, a savvy businesswoman whose Chicken Man’s (Kevin Hart, Central Intelligence, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungl‪e‬) mistress.

Fight Night: The Million Dollar Heist reunites Henson with several former cast members. For instancem Henson and Hart co-starred in Not Easily Broken and Think Like a Man. Along with Hart, Henson reunites Terrence Howard (Iron Man, The Best Man) and Craig Brewer (Dolemite Is My Name, Footloose), with whom she collaborated with on Hustle & Flow and Empire.

According to Deadlineper the logline, Fight Night, “set in Atlanta, tells the infamous story of how an armed robbery during the night of Muhammad Ali’s historic 1970 comeback fight changed not only one man’s life but an entire city’s destiny.”

According to Deadline, Dexter Darden (The Maze Runner, Son of the South) has been cast as Ali and Samuel L. Jackson (Pulp Fiction, Django Unchained) has been cast as Frank Moten.

Fight Night is created and written by Shaye Ogbonna (Lowlife, God’s Country) based on iHeartPodcasts of the same name. Jason Horwitch (The Pentagon Papers, Rubicon) and Ogbonna serve as show-runners; they executive produce alongside Jeff Keating (Living Is Winning, Follow Me) and Lars Jacobson (Day of the Dead: Bloodline, Baby Blues). Hart, Bryan Smiley (Lift, Junior) and Mike Stein (Die Hart, Dark Prophet) are producing under Hart’s production banner, Hartbeat. Conal Byrne (The Dark Red, The Vault), Will Pearson (Ordained) and Carrie Lieberman for iHeartPodcasts. Will Packer (Ride Along, Girls Trip) and Sabrina Wind (Desperate Housewives, Queens) are producing under Will Packer Media. Hartbeat’s Tiffany Brown (The Goldbergs, Rules of Engagement) and Studio 43’s Kenny Burns (Lola 2, Live It Up) are serving as co-executive producers. The series is also produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Henson has recently starred in the coming-of-age musical period drama film The Color Purple with Danielle Brooks (Orange Is the New Black, Close Enough), Colman Domingo (Fear the Walking Dead, Selma) and Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead, Straight Outta Compton)
