Paramount+ Releases Official Trailer for Season Two of ‘The Game’

Paramount Plus released the official trailer for the second season of The Game revival. The trailer gives a sneak peak into the unionization attempts by the football team, following the ending of season one.

The ten-episode second season is set in Las Vegas, following a relocation from San Diego. The Game offers a “modern-day examination of Black culture through the prism of pro football,” via the official description. “The team will  tackle racism, sexism, classism and more as they fight for fame, fortune, respect, and love as they each play THE GAME.” In the second season, “the beloved characters prepare to survive the storms of change they each face.”

The Game is a revival of the CW Network and later BET show of the same name. The series originally aired for three seasons on CW from 2006 to 2009, and BET revived it from 2011 to 2015 for an additional six seasons. By 2015, the show had amounted to nearly 150 aired episodes, via ETonline. The original show featured Brittany Daniel (Sweet Valley High) as Kelly Pitts, Coby Bell (Burn Notice) as Kelly’s husband Jason, Lauren London (ATL), and Jay Ellis (Top Gun: Maverick) as Bryce Westbrook.

In 2021, Paramount Plus gave a fresh new look to The Game, featuring a mix of original cast members alongside new additions, according to TheWrap. Alongside original cast members Hosea Chanchez and Wendy Raquel Robinson, the show features Vaughn Hebron (The Oval) as Jamison Fields, an un-drafted prospect; Tim Daly (Madam Secretary) as Colonel Ulysses S. Thatcher, billionaire and owner of the Las Vegas Fury football team; Adriyan Rae (Chicago Fire) as Brittany Pitts, adult daughter of Jason and Kelly Pitts; Analisa Velez (Sneaky Pete) as Raquel Navarro, Brittany’s best friend and confidant; and Toby Sandeman (Power Book III: Raising Kanan’s)  as Garret Evans, the number one football player in the league.

Season one ended with long term character Malik Wright (Hosea Chanchez, Fanatic) revealing his mental health struggles. After failing to reach a compromise on benefits, the San Diego Sabres players go on strike before their first game. Following the strike, the Colonel seeks to strip Tasha Mack (Wendy Raquel Robinson, Miss Congeniality) of everything she has worked for, including her extravagant sports agency. After the ten-episode first season, The Game was renewed for a second season in February of this year.

The first two episodes of Season two premiere on Thursday, December 15th, exclusively on Paramount Plus; new episodes will continue to be released on Thursdays. Alongside season one and two, all nine seasons of the original series are also available to stream on the platform.
