‘Outlander’ Prequel Has Begun Production

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the prequel to Outlander has officially found its lead actors and is going into production. The Starz show, titled Blood of My Blood, is being filmed in Scotland.. The prequel will focus on the parents of the main characters from the original series.

In particular, The Hollywood Reporter said that Blood of My Blood will focus on Jamie and Claire’s parents. Jamie’s parents, Ellen Mackenzie and Brian Fraser, will be played by Harriet Slater (Pennyworth) and Jamie Roy (Your Boyfriend Is Mine) respectively. The Hollywood Reporter highlighted a quote from Matthew B. Roberts (Caprica), the showrunner for both Outlander and Blood of My Blood. The origins of their relationships explore universal themes that transcend time periods, and we’re so excited for fans to discover and fall in love with these characters and their love stories the way they have with Claire and Jamie.”

Along with Blood of My Blood going into production, Outlander is currently working on the seventh season of the show. The Hollywood Reporter revealed that this means the show is getting ready to close out as it has been confirmed that there will only be eight seasons. Moore (For All Mankind) and Maril Davis (Insurrection) through Tall Ship Productions. Along with these names, Mining & Supply Company also works as an executive producer.
