‘Our Kind of People’ and ‘Pivoting’ Canceled at Fox

As the 2021-2022 television season comes to a close, more shows are experiencing the ax from major networks. According to The Hollywood Reporter, two freshmen series, Our Kind of People and Pivoting, will be canceled at Fox after one season.

From Empire creator Lee Daniels (StarThe Butler) and Karin Gist (Camp Rock), Our Kind of People‘s cancelation comes of a surprise as it’s one of the first series ordered straight-to-series at Fox. The network usually goes through traditional development methods.

Our Kind of People starred Yaya Dacosta (Chicago FireWhitney) as Angela Vaughn, a single mother wanting to reclaim her family name but she discovers a dark secret about her mother.

The series is based on the 1999 book of the same name by Lawrence Otis Graham. Fox ordered 12 episodes for the series, which first aired in January and averaged 2.1 million viewers a week.

Pivoting, which also aired in January, followed three middle-aged women (Eliza Coupe, Ginnifer Goodwin, and Maggie Q) who decide to pivot their lives following the death of another friend. Despite a strong premiere and good reviews, Pivoting only received an average 1.85 million viewers a week.

The CW recently overhauled its slate with shows such as The LegaciesBatwoman, and Dynasty being canceled.

Other cancelations are awaiting announcements on Monday, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
