‘Orphan Black’s Tatiana Maslany Cast As Marvel’s ‘She-Hulk’ At Disney+

Tatiana Maslany (Orphan Black, Perry Mason) has landed the titular role in Marvel’s She-Hulk for Disney+, according to Deadline. Maslany is the latest female to lead a Marvel Studios property following Brie Larson (Just Mercy, Room) in last year’s Captain Marvel, and Scarlett Johansson’s (Ghost in the Shell, Marriage Story) Black Widow due sometime in the future.

Maslany joins a project that has Kat Coiro (And While We Were Here, Marry Me) set to direct several episodes, including the pilot, via Deadline. Jessica Gao (Silicon Valley, Rick & Morty) has been tapped to write the series. Maslany will be Jennifer Walters, an attorney who experiences the Hulk mutation after receiving an emergency blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner aka The Hulk. According to Deadline, Walters’ transformation is different as she is able to maintain her human mind whenever she morphs into her stronger, mutant alter ego.

Maslany is best known for her Emmy-winning role as several clones in BBC’s Orphan Black, which aired for five seasons. She recently portrayed Sister Alice in HBO’s dark reboot of Perry Mason, starring Matthew Rhys (Brothers and Sisters, The Americans).

She-Hulk is one of many upcoming TV series coming to Disney+ from Marvel Studios. According to Deadline, the streaming service has already slated The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, and Loki all to debut within the next year. Anthony Mackie (The Hate U Give, She Hate Me) and Sebastian Stan (I, Tonya, The Martian) will reprise their Marvel Cinematic Universe roles for a series that sees Mackie’s Falcon take on the mantle of Captain America. Elsewhere Elizabeth Olsen’s (Martha Marcy May Marlene) Wanda Maximoff is the focus of the mysterious 1950s housewife series co-starring Paul Bettany’s (A Beautiful Mind, Legion) Vision. Lastly, Tom Hiddleston (The Night Manager, Thor) will work up mischief as viewers follow the misadventures of Thor’s villainous half-brother.
