Octavia Spencer Hosting March 4th ‘SNL’

Octavia Spencer has been set to follow Alec Baldwin as host of Saturday Night Live.

The announcement was made on-air during the broadcast of Baldwin’s 17th time hosting. Spencer will host the March 4th episode, with next weeks episode set to be a repeat of the Dave Chappelle/A Tribe Called Quest episode Deadline reports.

By the time Spencer will appear live from New York she may have won her second Oscar for Best Supporting Actress. She is nominated for her role as Dorothy Vaughan in Hidden Figures, and previously won the same award for her turn as Minny Jackson in The Help.

SNL has experienced consistently rising ratings thanks to the current political climate. Baldwin’s episode brought in SNL‘s highest metered-market household in six years with a 7.2 and 3.6 in the 18-49 demo. Baldwin’s Trump has been a big hit for the late-night comedy series, and he has now been joined by Melissa McCarthy’s Sean Spicer. It is getting to the point that people like Rosie O’Donnell and Christine Baranski are throwing their hats in the ring to portray other political figures. NBC is even considering making SNL‘s Weekend Update segment into full blown series.
