NYCC: Familiar Faces Meet A New Foe In First Trailer for ‘Star Trek: Picard’ Third Season

Trekkies surrounded the Empire Stage at New York Comic Con yesterday as the cast and creatives of Paramount+’s Star Trek: Picard revealed the trailer for the show’s third and final season, according to Deadline. Starring Sir Patrick Stewart (X-Men) as his Star Trek: The New Generation captain, Jean-Luc Picard, the third season will reunite him with several of his past TNG counterparts as they face a new threat. View the trailer below.

The trailer depicts a dark, final mission for the third season as Picard and his associates are being hunted by an unknown assailant. The villain’s identity and more cast details for the show’s last entry were announced at the panel. According to Deadline, Patrick was joined by showrunner Terry Matalas (MacGyver), executive producers Alex Kurtzman (The Man Who Fell From Earth) and Rod Roddenberry (Trek Nation), and the extensive cast of past TNG characters.

Deadline reports Amanda Plummer (The Hunger Games: Catching Fire) was announced as joining the cast as the big bad, Vadic, for season three. As shown in the trailer, Plummer’s Vadic has some unfinished business with our Captain Picard and is determined to bring his existence to an end. In addition to Plummer’s reveal, the trailer surprised fans with the return of the original series adversary, Professor Moriarty, played by The Nanny’s David Davis.

While Picard and crew wrestle with these devious distractors, Starfleet will add two new members to the squad. Per Deadline, LeVar Burton’s (Tom Swift) Geordi La Forge will have two daughters played by Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut (Cruel Summer) and Mica Burton (Lazer Team), LeVar’s real-life daughter. Chestnut will play his eldest daughter and pilot of the U.S.S. Titan, Ensign Sidney La Forge. Mica Burton will portray La Forge’s younger daughter, Ensign Alandra La Forge.

According to Deadline, Burton and Picard will be joined by TNG alums Brent Spiner (The Master of Disguise), Jonathan Frakes (Star Trek: Generations), Michael Dorn (Star Trek: Insurrection), Gates McFadden (Star Trek: First Contact), and Marina Sirtis (Star Trek: Nemesis). Additional cast members include Jeri Ryan (Body of Proof) and Michelle Hurd (I Spit On Your Grave).

The third season of Star Trek: Picard premieres February 16, 2023, on Paramount+.
