On June 19, Syfy will kick off a new Thursday night block of original dramas, Defiance and Dominion.
Defiance will premiere its second season. The series is the first-ever convergence of TV and online gaming. In the second season, Earth Republic assumes control when the lives of the townspeople turn drastically. Niles Pottinger (James Murray) is the new mayor, Nolan (Grant Bowler) is searching for Irisa (Stephanie Leonidas), Amanda’s (Julie Benz) role changes as she looks for Kenya and the Tarr family tries to keep control of their criminal empire.
Defiance stars Bowler, Leonidas, Murray, Benz, Tony Curran, Jaime Murray, Graham Greene and Jesse Rath, Dewshane Williams, Trenna Keating, Justin Rain, Nicole Munoz, Anna Hopkins and William Atherton.
Kevin Murphy returns as executive producer and showrunner. Executive producers are Darren Swimmer and Todd Slavkin. Michael Taylor will be consulting producer and Michael Nankin (co-executive producer) will direct the season two premiere.
Dominion will premiere its first season with a 90-minute episode. The supernatural drama series is based on characters from the 2010 film Legion. It is set in a post-apocalyptic future where an army of lower angels, under the command of Archangel Gabriel, fight against humanity and Archangel Michael, who has turned against his own kind.
There are new cities protecting the human survivors. In the city of Vegas (formerly Las Vegas), there is a battle for control and a political war is brews. One rebellious young soldier ventures on his own journey as this war escalates.
Dominion stars Christopher Egan, Tom Wisdom, Roxanne McKee, Alan Dale, Anthony Steward Head and Luke Gale.
Universal Cable Productions and Bold Films produce Dominion. Executive producers on the series are Vaun Wilmott, Todd Slavkin & Darren Swimmer, along with executive producers Scott Stewart (co-writer and director of Legion), Michael Litvak and David Lancaster of Bold Films who produced the original film.
Both series premiere on June 19. Defiance premieres at 8PM ET/PT and Dominion premieres at 9PM ET/PT.
