The Netflix original series The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will end when part four is released later this year, according to Variety. The first season of the series was released in 2018 and ran until this year, for 3 seasons.
The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina is an adaptation of Sabrina the Teenage Witch, which consists of a dark coming-of-age story revolving around Sabrina and how she navigates life as a half-witch, half-mortal and protects her family from the evil forces that threaten them. The adaptation stars Kiernan Shipka (Mad Men, The Silence) as Sabrina Spellman, Ross Lynch (Austin & Ally, Teen Beach Movie), Miranda Otto (War of the Worlds, Lord of the Rings), Gavin Leatherwood in his debut role, Chance Perdomo (Killed by My Debt), Lucy Davis (Wonder Woman, The Office), Jaz Sinclair (Slender Man, Paper Towns), Michelle Gomez (Doctor Who, Green Wing), and Tati Gabrielle (The Emoji Movie, The 100).
Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Riverdale) made the cancellation announcement on Wednesday, “Working on Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has been an incredible honor from day one. The cast, beginning with Kiernan as everyone’s favorite teen witch, has been an absolute joy. I am beyond thankful to the crew, writers, editors, assistants, and everyone for pouring so much love into this dark dream of a show. I’m also grateful to our partners at Netflix, Warner Bros., Bertlanti Television and Archie Comics for letting us tell the story we wanted to tell, the way we wanted to tell it. We can’t wait for everyone to see Part Four,” via Variety.
The final part of the series will consist of 8 episodes as Eldritch Terrors threatens Greendale and the coven fights each horrifying threat one at a time. Meanwhile, Nick, played by Leatherwood, and Sabrina may begin to reconcile their relationship, just when it’s too late. The series was originally created as a companion show to the CW’s Riverdale but was shortly moved to Netflix after part one was released.
The cancellation of The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina follows the cancellation of the Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene, which was just cancelled last week after its debut season. To honor the show’s reign, the series’ Twitter account posted pictures from part four which can be viewed below.
