Netflix Sets Release Date For ‘Peaky Blinders’ Season Six

Netflix has revealed that the sixth and final season of Peaky Blinders will be released to the streamer on June 10, according to VarietyFilming on the sixth season concluded in June.

The series stars Cillian Murphy (Dunkirk), Tom Hardy (Venom), Joe Cole (A Prayer Before Dawn), Anabelle Wallis (Malignant), Anya Taylor Joy (Emma), Fin Cole (F9) and Paul Anderson (Legend). Having run through BBC Studios since 2013, Peaky Blinders follows the fight for survival of returning war hero Thomas Shelby and his family in 1919 Britain.

One of the show’s stars, Helen McRory (Skyfall), who played Aunt Polly, died of cancer last April, and the show will have to air its last season without the crucial character she played.

“I think the whole series is really in tribute to her and to honor her,” Murphy said of McRory’s legacy on the show, via Variety“Her presence and her character’s presence are very much still felt in the series, and it is very much part of Tommy’s journey in the season. It’ll be different without her, you know. It simply won’t be the same. I’ve spoken about how phenomenal she was as an actress and as a person and it is an enormous loss to the whole acting community and not just for our show. My thoughts are always with [husband] Damian [Lewis] and her kids. I just hope that the show will live up to her memory and our memory of her.”

“I think this is the culmination of the series that hopefully improves upon the last season and makes the most recent one the richest and deepest one that we possibly can, partially because of all of the pandemic shit happening in the world and, of course, the really sad loss of [Helen] McCrory,” Murphy said.

The show’s final season will begin airing on BBC on February 27, 2023.
