Netflix Renews ‘Castlevania: Nocturne’ For A Second Season

According to Deadline, Netflix has just renewed Castlevania: Nocturne for second season. This comes a week after the release of season one on September 28th. The series is a new installment to the Castlevania universe which is set 300 years after the first animated series. 

Below is the official announcement for season two by Netflix.

Creator-showrunner Clive Bradley (The Killing Gene) and showrunner Kevin Kolde (Adventure Time) said in a joint statement: ”Thanks to all of the Castlevania fans old and new for the amazing response and support! We are excited to be able to bring you more Castlevania: Nocturne and the next chapter in the rise of Richter Belmont.”

Castlevania: Nocturne is based on a popular video game franchise developed by Konami. The gothic horror action-adventure series follows the story of both Count Dracula and the Belmont clan. The franchise spans over 30 different game titles. 

According to Deadline, season one of the series is set 300 years after the Netflix animated series Castlevania. It takes place in France in 1792 during the height of the French Revolution and follows: the prodigy vampire hunter Richter Belmont. According to IMDb, the summary of the series reads as follows, ‘’In a remote part of western France, the counter-revolutionary aristocracy has forged an alliance with a terrifying Vampire Messiah, who promises to ‘eat the sun’ and unleash an army of vampires and night creatures to crush the revolution and enslave humanity. Annette, a sorceress from the Caribbean, seeks out Richter Belmont, last descendant of the long-fabled family of vampire hunters, to lead the resistance.’’

According to Deadline, Castlevania: Nocturne reached Netflix’s Top 10 English TV List in just five days of its dropping on the streamer. The series also reached the Top 10 in 40 countries. Project 51 Productions and Powerhouse Animation will continue to produce the series. Directing duties will be shared by Sam Deats (A King’s Tale: Final Fantasy XV) and Adam Deats (Skull Island).
