Netflix Releases Trailer for Detective Drama ‘Young Wallander’

The upcoming Netflix detective drama series Young Wallander has released its first full-length trailer, according to Deadline. The series is set to premiere on the streaming platform on September 3 and will consist of six episodes. The show is written by Ben Harris (Time Takes a Holiday) and is also directed by the likes of Jens Jonsson (The King of Ping Pong) and Ole Endresen (The Wendy Effect, Curling King). The series will be produced by Berna Levin (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and executive produced by Katie Mustard (The Greatest) while being under the supervision of the production company Yellow Bird UK. 

Young Wallander will center on a collection of stories on detective Kurt Wallander throughout the duration of his first case after graduating from the police academy. Wallander is a fictional Swedish police officer who has been the protagonist in various mystery novels and the subject of a Swedish film and television series in addition to a British program as well. In this Netflix adaptation of the character, Wallander will be portrayed by Adam Pålsson (Before We Die) with the additional cast including the likes of Richard Dillane (Argo, The Dark Knight), Leanne Best (The Infiltrator, Black Mirror), Ellise Chappell (Yesterday, Poldark), Yasen Atour (Ben-Hur), and Sara Seyed (Aseman). Further cast members for the series are Alan Emrys (The Hidden Track) and Jordan Adene (Wanderlust). 

This Netflix iteration of the Wallander character will be the first live-action portrayal of the character since the BBC series which starred Kenneth Branagh (Thor, Hamlet). Young Wallander will premiere on Netflix on September 3 and interested television fans can check out the trailer below:
