Netflix Picks Up ‘One Day At A Time’ For A Second Season

The Alvarez family will be returning to Netflix.

Deadline reports that Netflix’s One Day At A Time has been picked up for a second season. The multi-camera comedy premiered its first season on the streaming service back in January to positive reviews. Season 2, like season 1, will consists of 13 episodes.

One Day At A Time is based on the late 70s-early 80s Norman Lear series of the same name. Instead of following Ann Romano (Bonnie Franklin) and her daughters, the rebooted series centers on the Cuban-American family of former military vet Penelope Alvarez (Justina Machado) as she raises her kids with the help of her mom Lydia (Rita Moreno).

The series stars Justina Machado, Rita Moreno, Todd Grinnell, Isabella Gomez, Marcel Ruiz and Stephen Tobolowsky. It is executive produced by Lear, Gloria Calderon Kellett, Mike Royce, Brent Miller and Michael Garcia.
