Netflix has found two actors to join the cast for This Summer Will Be Different. According to Deadline, the actors are Roby Attal (Kimiko: Hang out Forever?, Sucker Punch) and Francesca Reale (Do Not Enter, Laid).
For those who don’t know, This Summer Will Be Different is a novel written by Carley Fortune (Every Year After, Good Morning America) that tells a story about romance that is set across multiple summers on Prince Edward Island. A young woman named Lucy must navigate her 20s and her first love with her best friend’s brother. The series will adapt the novel that follows the same premise.
According to Deadline, Attal will play the character Felix “Wolf” Clark. In the novel, he is described as quite the flirt. Reale will play the character Bridget. In the book Bridget is Lucy’s best friend and described as the ever organized PR coordinator who introduced Lucy to Prince Edward Island when they visit it one summer. It would become the future location for Bridget’s wedding.
According to Deadline, the novel has managed to become a NY Times bestselling after its 2024 release. The novel has sold more than four million copies and was translated into thirty languages. Fortune will also be a producer for the series, which already has a second season renewal based on the sequel novel, One Golden Summer.
The series is executive produced by Dane Clark (Merv, One More Time), Linsey Stewart (North of North, Suze), Fortune, Jennifer Kawaja (Small Achievable Goals, Wayward), Elise Cousineau (How to Faile as a Popstar, The Porter), and Samantha Levine (Hive, Kissing Is the Easy Part).
There has been no official release date for the series so we will have to keep our eyes peeled for a trailer. In the meantime, you can read the novel in order to gain a better understanding of what will happen when the series is officially released.
