Netflix Drops ‘Fate: The Winx Saga’ Trailer Three Days Before Premiere

A full-length trailer for Netflix‘s live-action remake of the Winx Club animated series has finally arrived. The trailer dropped on Netflix’s YouTube channel only three days prior to the series premiere on the streaming service this Friday, January 22.

According to TVLine, Fate: The Winx Saga is a more mature reimagining of the beloved Italian animated series which has existed in multiple iterations since the first episode’s release in 2004. Although originating in Italy, the show was popularized in the United States on Nickelodeon.

Netflix’s adaptation will be a six-episode series following five fairies based on characters from the original series. Fate: The Winx Saga will focus on fairies and other supernatural beings who attend a magical boarding school called Alfea College in the Otherworld where they learn to control their powers while managing love, friendships, and “the monsters that threaten their very existence”, via Netflix’s official synopsis released with the trailer.

Prior to this trailer, only one teaser for the series had beed released on the @NXonNetflix Twitter account in December last year. At only a minute long, the teaser gave expectant fans only a brief sneak peak of what the series had to offer.

Winx Club Creator Iginio Straffi serves as an executive producer assisting showrunner Brian Young (The Vampire Diaries). The series will star Chilling Adventures of Sabrina‘s Abigail Cowen as Bloom, who from the trailer appears to be the main character for the first season. It has not been confirmed whether the series will continue past its first season.

The first four seasons of the Winx Club animated series are streaming for free on The Winx Club YouTube channel, and season seven is available to stream on Netflix.
