NBC’s ‘Law & Order: Organized Crime’ Renewed For Season Five With New Home On Peacock

NBC’s drama series Law & Order: Organized Crime is anticipated to move to Peacock. According to Deadline, the series is currently finalizing a deal with Peacock for its fifth season, which will have 10 episodes. This specific Wolf Entertainment series is also gearing up to stream the new season exclusively on the streamer.

As per Deadline, this move would allow Peacock, which is an NBCUniversal streamer, to obtain an original Dick Wolf (FBI: International) drama series that would be added to the Wolf Library and next-day premieres of the remaining series in the Wolf Entertainment universe that includes Chicago Med, Law & Order: SVU, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Law & Order, which are some of the most popular series on Peacock.

The series follows Law & Order: SVU’s Detective Elliot Stabler, portrayed by Christopher Meloni (Man of Steel), as he returns to his NYPD roots to work on the Organized Crime Task Force.

Deadline also notes that this series is unlike any other Wolf Entertainment show, which usually has a more demure and serialized tone. This could be why the series is performing below the other series by Wolf in linear ratings on the network despite doing fine on Peacock.

Law & Order: Organized Crime is the second installment in the franchise to leave NBC. Law & Order: Criminal Intent also found its new home on the USA Network for four seasons after being on NBC for six.

Some other successful series that have made the jump between networks include two original Fox series, The Mindy Project and Lucifer, which moved to Hulu and Netflix, respectively.

As previously reported, NBC also recently renewed the drama series The Irrational and FoundAccording to Deadline, other titles, such as the comedy series Night Court, Extended Family, and Lopez vs. Lopez, are also anticipated to make a comeback.

Wolf executive produces Law & Order: Organized Crime with showrunners Peter Jankowski (When You’re Strange), Paul Cabbad (Fantasy Island), Meloni, Arthur W. Forney (Fast Times at Ridgemont High), and John Shiban (The X-Files). Rick Gonzalez (Coach Carter), Danielle Moné Truitt (Rebel) and Ainsley Seiger (Law & Order) are among the cast alongside Meloni.

Universal Television, a subset of Universal Studio Group, produces Law & Order: Organized Crime in collaboration with Wolf Entertainment.
