NBC’s Drama Pilot Series ‘Grosse Pointe Garden Society’ Pins AnnaSophia Robb As Lead

AnnaSophia Robb (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Bridge to Terabithia) has been cast as the lead character in NBC’s newest drama series, Grosse Pointe Garden Society. According to Variety, the network dished out a pilot order for the series in February.

As per Variety, the official logline for Grosse Pointe Garden Society reads, “Four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom.”

Variety notes that Robb’s character, Alice, is defined as “your favorite high school English teacher, a dreamer whose best dreams are crashing down on her. She’s a longtime member of the Grosse Pointe Garden Society.”

TV works for Robb include her appearing in the series Little Flies Everywhere and The Act for Hulu, and she was also in season one of Peacock’s Dr. Death. Robb was also in The CW’s The Carrie Diaries and PBS’s Mercy Street. Additionally, Robb’s other projects include Bridge to Terabithia, Soul Surfer and Words on Bathroom Walls

Schreck Rose, CAA and Untitled Entertainment represent Robb.

Grosse Pointe Garden Society is executively produced by Bill Krebs (Good Girls, No Tomorrow) and Jenna Bans (Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy), who also wrote the pilot. Bans is set to executive produce via her banner, Minnesota Logging Company, alongside Casey Kyber (Black Candle Woman, Murder by the Book). Additionally, Maggie Kiley (Keep Breathing, Dirty John) will executive produce and direct the pilot episode.

According to Variety, Grosse Pointe Garden Society is one of NBC’s few broadcast pilots ordered so far for the traditional pilot season. The network has only greenlit two other pilots for its anticipated season, Suits: LA, a spinoff of USA Network’s drama series Suits, and currently unnamed multi-camera pilot starring Reba McEntire (Reba, The Little Rascals)
