NBC Announces ‘Will & Grace’ Series Finale Date

The time has come for fans and critics to say goodbye to a ground-breaking NBC sitcom in Will & Grace, according to Deadline. Created by Max Mutchnick (The Wonder Years) and David Kohan (Boston Common), the series debuted in 1998 and ran through 2006 before ultimately being revived in 2017. The comedy has been on the air for a total of 11 seasons and comprised a total of 246 episodes. During its run, the series amassed 18 Primetime Emmy Awards with its four main cast members receiving individual Emmy’s for their acting contributions. 

Will & Grace chronicles the relationship between friends Will Truman and Grace Adler in addition to their friendships with Karen Walker and Jack McFarland. Will, a gay lawyer, is played by Eric McCormack and was one of the first openly homosexual lead characters to be portrayed on television. Grace, an interior designer, is portrayed by Debra Messing (Along Came Polly). Additionally, Megan Mullally (The Disaster Artist) plays the socialite Karen Walker and Sean Hayes (Monsters University) portrays Will’s close gay friend and aspiring actor since his college days. The NBC sitcom received critical acclaim throughout its run and has included revolutionary television moments such as the first male-to-male on-screen kiss for a network series. 

Will & Grace‘s series finale is titled “It’s Time” which follows Will leaving the apartment and New York City while Grace is in the latter months of her pregnancy. Additionally, the episode will feature Karen attempting to find resolution with her past relationships and Jack potentially accomplishing his dream of being on a Broadway stage. The finale will air on Thursday, April 23 at 9 PM ET. Prior to the episode hitting the airwaves, the network has produced a retrospective special at 8:30 PM ET which is hosted by McCormack. The special will encompass a collection of reactions and stories about the series from its fans, celebrities, and cast.
