Nat Geo Releases First Trailer for ‘Barkskins’

National Geographic is extending its channel with a historical fiction series Barkskins as they released the show’s first trailer, according to Deadline. The drama series is created by Elwood Reid (The Chi) and is based on a book under the name written by Annie Proulx (Brokeback Mountain). The trailer is to be shown in the middle of the NFL Draft during its Saturday broadcasts on ESPN and its parent company, ABC. The show is being produced by Reid, Scott Rudin (No Country for Old Men), Eli Bush (Lady Bird), Garret Basch (The Night Of), and David Slade (Breaking Bad).

Barkskins is a historical fiction drama that will center on the two immigrants arriving in the New World, New France in particular, in the wild 1690s. The series will consist of eight episodes. Its cast includes the likes of David Thewlis (Harry Potter and Fargo) and Marcia Gay Harden (Pollock and Mystic River). The additional cast consists of Aneurin Barnard (Dunkirk), James Bloor (Less Than Zero), David Wilmot (Black Sails), Christian Cooke (Cemetery Junction), Thomas M. Wright (Outsiders), Lily Sullivan (Jungle), and many more. Although there is not much information around the series’ narrative, many television and film fans are drawing comparisons between the trailer and the Leonardo DiCaprio feature film The Revenant

Currently, the series is set to air its premiere episode on May 25 and will also release its episodes next-day on the streaming platform Hulu. Interested viewers can check out the trailer below:
