For the second time during stay-at-home orders, NBC and the Saturday Night Live broadcasted another remote episode with Brad Pitt as Dr. Anthony Fauci in the cold open, according to Deadline. Following the first remote edition, SNL fans had high expectations after Tom Hanks was revealed to be the special episode host. The sketch comedy series satisfied these expectations with the appearance of the Academy Award-winning actor.
Pitt, best known for his roles in Fight Club and Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, greeted comedy fans disguised as Dr. Fauci, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Following various White House briefings led by President Trump, the sketch comedy series had Pitt’s Dr. Fauci clarified on some past remarks made during the presser. In a previous live interview on CNN, the real-life Dr. Fauci had stated that he would like Pitt to portray him in a hypothetical SNL sketch. It looks like his wish has come true. In addition to Pitt’s opening monologue as Dr. Fauci, the sketch comedy series also included some original sketches via Zoom, Weekend Update, and Miley Cyrus as the episode’s musical guest as she performed cover of Pink Floyd’s “Wish You Were Here.”
