‘Mr. Robot’ Beefs Up Season 2 Cast

Fsociety is growing.

According to The Hollywood ReporterMr. Robot is adding to its cast for season 2. Stephanie Corneliussen and Michael Cristofer will be series regulars this time around. The two played Tyrell’s Lady Macbeth- status wife Joanna and his sociopath boss Phillip Price respectively.

This probably comes as little surprise to those who saw the season 1 finale, where both characters each had their own scenes that hinted strongly that there was more of them to come. Joanna shared a memorably chilling scene with protagonist Elliot (Rami Malek) and Phillip Price, CEO of Evil Corp became Angela’s (Portia Doubleday) new boss.

In addition to these promotions, Mr. Robot will also add Grace Gummer, (of The Newsroom and also Meryl Streep’s daughter) who will play an FBI agent investigating Elliot and his hacker group fsociety, according to Variety. Chris Conroy will also join the show as the new man in Joanna’s life.

Another interesting addition is 21 year- old rapper Joey Bada$$ (aka Jo-Vaughn Virginie Scott), who will play a new friend of Elliot’s from his neighborhood. After a series of mixtapes, Joey had his debut album just last year which which became the most successful independent hip- hop release of the year, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Despite no longer being with Angela and no longer working with Elliot, Ben Rappaport will return as bro-tastic Ollie as well. Even more surprising, Bill, (Tom Riis Farrell) who was literally in one part of the show’s fifth episode will appear again, though fans will undoubtedly remember him as the center of the one of the most depressing scenes of the whole series (which is saying something).

Mr. Robot became a breakout hit last summer, making various critics’ lists as one of the best shows of 2015.  It won 2 Golden Globes including Best Performance by an Actor in a Series for Christian Slater’s titular Mr. Robot and Best Television Series- Drama. Rami Malek also won a much deserved Screen Actor’s Guild Award for his portrayal of Elliot, the sweet but tormented hero of the show. It’s hailed as a remarkable departure in programming for network USA, whose other shows include Odd Couple Crime Solvers and Endearingly Unconventional Crime Solver.

The already bleak series ended on a turn for the bleaker as Elliot was forced to confront shattering conclusions about himself, his past, and Mr. Robot as the world was thrown into anarchy by fsociety’s plan. With this game changing season finale and the expanded cast of characters, there’s no telling where this revolution is heading.
