Deadline reported that production has begun on season two of the Disney+ breakout Korean drama Moving, with actor Won Gyu-bin (B*tch x Rich) replacing Lee Jung-ha (Nevertheless, Run On) from season one. Lee will be stepping back from his role in the series to partake in the military service, and season two will instead feature Won as character Kim Bong-seol.
Based on the original eponymous webtoon (webcomic) created by user Kangfull (who is also credited as series creator), Moving is a supernatural drama following an ensemble cast of teenagers who discover they have superpowers and their special agent parents who work to protect them from harm. Season two, per Deadline, will begin in the days following the first finale’s Jeongwon High School incident that resulted in clashing between North and South Korean secret agents. While the heroes settle back into the pace of normal life, new threats begin to emerge.
Set to return from the first season are, listed by Deadline; Go Youn-jung (Sweet Home, Law School), Han Hyo-joo (Brilliant Legacy, Happiness), Kim Do-hoon (The Escape of the Seven, Dear X), Ryoo Seung-bum (Crying Fist, The Unjust), and Ryu Seung-ryong (Masquerade, Extreme Job) will reprise their roles in the second season, with newcomer Won taking on the departing Lee’s role of Kim Bong-seol.
Moving first premiered in August 2023, reports Deadline, swiftly rising to become the most viewed Korean original on Disney+ globally and on Hulu in the United States, further establishing the platform in the competitive South Korean streaming market. Among its acknowledged revitalization of the streaming service abroad, the series has also been recognized at the Critics Choice Awards, the Daejong International Film Awards, and the Busan International Film Festival. Moving has also served as a career breakout for up-and-coming young actors Go, Lee, and Kim.
Via Deadline, season two of Moving is written by source webtoon creator Kangfull, along with new director Kim Seong-hun (A Hard Day, Tunnel). As stated prior, production has begun on the next season, and the first season is available to stream on Disney+ and Hulu.
