Moses Ingram To Replace Lupita Nyong’o In Limited Apple TV+ Series ‘Lady In The Lake’

Moses Ingram (The Queen’s Gambit) will be joining the upcoming Apple TV+ limited series, Lady In The Lake, according to Deadline. She will be starring in the upcoming series alongside Natalie Portman (Star Wars Episode III: Revenge Of The Sith) as Cleo Sherwood, which was originally set to be played by Lupita Nyong’o (Black Panther) before she exited the series in May.

Lady In The Lake is based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name, written by Laura Lippman (What The Dead Know). Deadline provided a description of the series: “It takes place in ’60s Baltimore, where an unsolved murder pushes housewife and mother Maddie Schwartz (Portman) to reinvent her life as an investigative journalist and sets her on a collision course with Ingram’s Sherwood, a hardworking woman juggling motherhood, many jobs and a passionate commitment to advancing Baltimore’s Black progressive agenda.”

Also starring in the series is Y’Lan Noel (The First Purge), Mikey Madison (Once Upon A Time In Hollywood) and Brett Gelman (Stranger Things). The series will be produced by Endeavor Content alongside Crazyrose and Bad Wolf America. Portman will be serving as an executive producer for the series as well. Other executive producers include Lippman, Sophie Mas (Call Me By Your Name), Nathan Ross (Dallas Buyers Club), the late Jean-Marc Vallee (Big Little Lies), Julie Gardner (I Hate Suzie), Amy J. Kaufman (Lulu On The Bridge), and Layne Eskridge (She’s Gotta Have It).

Alma Har’el (Honey Boy) will be writing Lady In The Lake. The upcoming series will mark the first TV projects for Har’el and Portman.

Ingram is coming off her starring role in the newest Disney+ Star Wars limited spinoff series, Obi-Wan Kenobi, in which she plays Reva. She has also appeared in films such as The Tragedy Of Macbeth, The Same Storm, and Ambulance.
