‘Midnight, Texas’ Has Been Renewed for Season 2 and Gets New Showrunners

NBC has renewed Midnight, Texas for its second season. Also, Eric Charmelo and Nicole Snyder will take over as co-showrunners for the series. Both of which were consulting producers during season one. They are taking over for Monica Owusu-Breen. She wrote the pilot and served as showrunner for the first season. She is said to be leaving to focus on other projects. Their executive producer will be David Janollari. The series is produced by Universal Television and David Janollari Entertainment. Because the show’s budget was also trimmed for renewal, both Sarah Ramos (Creek Lovell) and Yul Vazquez (Reverend Emilio Sheehan) will not be coming back to the show. Instead of being regulars, they will be seen as guest stars.

Midnight, Texas (starring François Arnaud as Manfred Bernardo) is based on the books by Charlaine Harris. Her novels have been adapted to the screen before. Her other supernatural drama series was HBO’s True Blood. The supernatural thriller, Midnight, Texas, was actually the number one broadcast drama between the ages of 18-49 during this last summer.

The show takes place in a remote Texas town full of supernatural phenomena. Manfred is a charming and powerful psychic who can communicate with spirits. He finds safety in Midnight surrounding himself with both human and supernatural allies. The series also stars Dylan Bruce (Bobo), Parisa Fitz-Henley (Fiji), Arielle Kebbel (Olivia), Jason Lewis (Joe), and Peter Mensah (Lemuel).

Harris said, “I am stoked at the prospect of a second season of Midnight, Texas. I can’t wait to revisit my favorite town to discover what its inhabitants have been up to the past few months. Now the viewers, who’ve been asking me questions daily, will have their reward.”
