Max Releases Trailer for Original Comedy Series ‘Bookie’

Deadline has reported that Max has officially revealed key art and trailer for its original comedy series, Bookie. The series consists of eight episodes and will debut with two episodes on November 30 on Max. Two episodes will continue to air weekly, with the finale airing on December 21.

Bookie is created, written, and produced by Chuck Lorre (The Big Bang Theory, Two and a Half Men) and Nick Bakay (Sabrina the Teenage Witch, The Angry Beavers). The series follows Danny, a longtime bookie from Los Angeles, and his client, as his business is threatened by the possible legalization of sports gambling in California. Danny attempts to settle his unstable clients’ debts alongside his sister Lorraine, his best friend and former NFL player Ray, and reformed drug dealer Hector.

The series stars Sebastian Maniscalco (About My Father, The Super Mario Bros. Movie) as Danny. Charlie Sheen (Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Anger Management) is featured as one of Danny’s clients. This marks Sheen’s return to television after 12 years and is the first time he has worked with Lorre since Two and a Half Men. Sheen’s character will be a recurring guest role.

The trailer features Sheen’s character suggesting an unconventional way of repaying his betting debts.

Along with Maniscalco and Sheen, the cast of Bookie includes Omar J. Dorsey (Queen Sugar, Eastbound & Down) as Ray, Jorge Garcia (Lost, Hawaii Five-0) as Hector, and Vanessa Ferlito (NCIS: New Orleans, CSI: NY) as Lorraine. Bookie will also feature Maxim Swinton (Raymond & Ray, Fleishman is in Trouble) and Andrea Anders (Better Off Ted, Young Sheldon).

The series is produced by Warner Bros. Television and is executive produced by Maniscalco, Judi Marmel (About My Father, The Machine), and Andy Tennant (The American Embassy, The Kominsky Method). Tennant directed multiple episodes of the series.
