Marvel’s ‘What If’ Is Guaranteed a Season 2

Marvel’s What If will be an interesting take on the MCU that shines light on our superheroes in a different kind of way. The objective of the new series will be to explore the alternate realities in the Marvel Universe if the crucial events we’ve all come to know had played out drastically differently. Officially, the show will premiere sometime in 2021, but it’s already developing a second season way ahead of that time to stream exclusively on Disney+.

Disney+ will work with Kevin Feige, the Marvel Studios president, to make plans and air it alongside projected works like The Falcon and the Winter Soldier which is currently filming. This, as with other Disney+ MCU shows, will be canon to the actual franchise and world building.

From what we’ve seen at San Diego Comic-Con, no fewer than 25 of the MCU actors (phase 1-3) are confirmed for their roles in this show. Familiar faces worth mentioning are Tom Hiddleston, Samuel L. Jackson, Michael B. Jordon, and Natalie Portman just to name a few.

We have yet to see what the second season could entail, but we can speculate a continuation in the meantime. In the first season, they’re featuring Jeffrey Wright as Uatu, “(The Watcher)” the presence who’s aware of all these realities and occasionally intervenes. We have yet to see what the second season could entail, but one can speculate a continuation in the meantime.

Some of the more interesting events that Feige is promising is Peter Quill not becoming Star Lord, Captain America turning into a zombie, and Peggy Carter who’s taking the super soldier serum instead of Steve Rodgers. If you’ve ever entertained some of these ideas or ever felt like wandering outside superhero norms, then it might be worth tuning in. So far, from what we know alone, there’s really no shortage of ideas and even more chances for fan theories to work as material.
