Marvel Teases Tatiana Maslany as ‘She-Hulk’ In New First Look of Disney+ Series

This week’s Disney Plus Day celebrated another year of the streaming service with a slew of updates on upcoming films and series from the company’s multiple properties. The exclusives included the first teaser of Marvel Studios’ upcoming heroine series, She-Hulk, starring Tatiana Maslany (Perry Mason, Black Orphan) as the gamma ray-powered Jennifer Walters. View the new clip below.

In the seconds-long clip, Maslany introduces herself as Walters, a seemingly normal lawyer who specializes in cases involving society’s more enhanced citizens. When Walters isn’t litigating in the courtroom, she moonlights as the green, muscle-enhanced She-Hulk. Walters received these morphing powers after receiving a blood transfusion from her cousin, Bruce Banner, also known as the Incredible Hulk. Unlike Banner’s powers – which usually come about in fits of rage – Walters has been known to be able to control the transformations more fluidly. The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Banner, played by Mark Ruffalo (Avengers: Infinity War, Now You See Me) appears in the clip as his post-Endgame hybrid, Dr. Hulk.

Along with Maslany and Ruffalo, the series’ cast includes Jameela Jamil (The Good Place, Legendary), Renée Elise Goldsberry (Evil, Girls5Eva), Ginger Gonzaga (Kidding, Mixology), and Josh Segarra (Arrow, The Other Two). Surprisingly, Tim Roth will also join the cast, reprising his role as the Abomination from the 2008 film, The Incredible Hulk. Fans of the MCU recently saw Abomination make a cameo in this summer’s blockbuster Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.

The comedy series is being directed by executive producer Kat Coiro, according to the press release. She will share directing duties with Anu Valia. The series head writer is Jessica Gao, who is most known for her writing on HBO’s Silicon Valley and the animated series, Ricky & Morty.

She-Hulk, which began production earlier this year, is expected to arrive on Disney+ in 2022. The series will be joined by the previously announced Moon Knight and Ms. Marvel series.
