During their Comic-Con panel, Marvel Studios revealed the cast of the Disney+ series WandaVision. The series will feature Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany as the show’s lead characters. Kevin Feige, the president of Marvel Studios, brought Olsen and Bettany on stage to talk about the new series. Feige said that WandaVision will be like “nothing you have seen before” in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. After discussing the series, Feige revealed that an adult version of Monica Rambeau from Captain Marvel will be featured in the show. This version of Monica Rambeau will be portrayed by Teyonah Parris (Dear White People), who was invited on stage by Feige and greeted by wild applause.
WandaVision will follow the story of superhero characters Scarlet Witch (Olsen) and Vision (Bettany) from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Scarlet Witch and Vision were last seen in Avengers: Infinity War. The series will be the first show that Marvel Studios is producing for Disney+ with Jac Schaeffer (Captain Marvel) serving as showrunner, producer, and writer. It will be available to watch in 2021, two years after the November launch of Disney+.
It was previously confirmed by Kevin Feige that they are working on MCU shows such as Falcon & Winter Soldier, Loki, and the Hawkeye series. Feige promised that these shows would be “equally important to the films” and to the future of the superhero franchise. WandaVision is part of the Disney+ slate that was announced at Comic-Con. Falcon & Winter Soldier will star Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan, Loki will star Tom Hiddleson, and Hawkeye will star Jeremy Renner.
Disney’s upcoming streaming service is set to launch on November 12. The service will be ad-free, offering the latest live-action and animated series and movies from Disney, Marvel, Star Wars, Pixar, and Fox. The cost of the service will be only $6.99 per month. Marvel fans will have much to look forward to with the upcoming Disney+.
