Marvel Studios Releases ‘I Am Groot’ Short Series Season Two Trailer, Streaming Release Date and More

National Tree Day was yesterday, August 8! But, what’s the importance of National Tree Day here? Well, In honor of the twiggy holiday, Disney+ revealed that five new I Am Groot shorts will be available to stream on September 6!

While it’s unlikely that any followers of the MCU are unaware of just who, or what, Groot is an extra-cute extraterrestrial tree monster who initially came to Earth in order to study and capture humans. So, audiences can expect to see the second season of I Am Groot in early September! According to a press release from Disney+ Media Relations, the season will follow “Baby Groot… exploring the universe and beyond aboard the Guardians’ spaceships, coming face-to-face—or nose-to-nose—with new and colorful creatures and environments.”

In all five of the new shorts, Vin Diesel (Avenger: Endgame, The Pacifier) will be voicing Groot. Writer and Director, Kirsten Lepore (Bottle, High Stranger) will also be returning for round two! Producers include Danielle Costa (Avengers: Endgame, Captain Marvel), Craig Rittenbaum (Ant-Man, Central Intelligence) and Alex Scharf (Black Panther, Avengers: Endgame). The executive producers are Brad Winderbaum (Thor: Love and Thunder, Thor: Ragnarok), Kevin Feige (Eternals, Guardians of the Galaxy), Victoria Alonso (The Marvels, Argentina, 1985), Louis D’Esposito (Agent Carter, Item 47) and Lepore. Dana Vasquez-Eberhardt (The Fairly OddParents, The Loud House) serves as co-executive producer.
