Mark Ruffalo to Star As Twin Brothers in Hulu’s ‘I Know This Much Is True’

Mark Ruffalo has just been slated to play not one new character, but two, in a single television series! Acting as a set of twins in Hulu’s new drama series based off of the novel I Know This Much Is True, Ruffalo is set to have a lot of work cut out for him.

The limited series is set to be a project composed of only six parts, but will definitely be one with plenty of story to tell. Based on the novel of the same name, the new series will follow identical twin brothers Dominick and Thomas Birdsey as they deal with issues like “betrayal, sacrifice and forgiveness set against the backdrop of 20th century America.” Released in 1998, Wally Lamb’s I Know This Much Is True reached HBO over a year ago and immediately drew attention from those within the network, who even decided to speed up the process in an effort to quickly get the show into production.

Ruffalo is largely known through his acting roles in films such as Spotlight, 13 Going on 30, Begin Again, and those within the Avengers series. Although his only recurring TV role took place back in 2000 with his spot on the police drama The Beat, Ruffalo’s new gig is already garnering attention and anticipation from his dedicated fan base.

The HBO series will be directed by Derek Cianfrance, who has directed a number of films including The Place Beyond the Pines, Blue Valentine, and The Light Between Oceans. He will also serve as a writer and executive producer on the series, along with star Mark Ruffalo. Wally Lamb will also remain close to the TV adaptation of his novel, acting as one of the show’s producers.

A release date has yet to have been announced for the upcoming series, though Hulu’s expedited push to get production rolling may be a good indication of the network’s eagerness to air the series as soon as they can.
