Mark-Paul Gosselaar Set to Star in Fox’s Post-Apocalyptic Series ‘The Passage’

While Fox’s highly anticipated series Pitch may have failed to deliver, Mark-Paul Gosselaar is back on board to star in the lead role of a post-apocalyptic series The Passage, based on the same name of Justin Cronin’s best-selling trilogy.

The series will focus on Gosselaar playing an FBI agent who kidnaps a 10-year-old girl named Amy Bellafonte who’s determined to save the human race. Meanwhile, the feds trail the pair’s every move, targeting the young girl for an unjust government experiment.

Saniyya Sidney will play the 10-year-old Amy and Fox has announced more lead roles by Genesis Rodriguez, Brianne Howey, BJ Britt and Jennifer Ferrin. While the series’ pilot will shoot this summer in Atlanta, the series is expected to make its debut sometime during the 2017-2018 TV season, Variety confirms.

Ridley Scott (The Martian) and Matt Reeves (Let Me In) will executive produce with Adam Kassan and David W. Zucker alongside Marcos Siega who will direct and Liz Heldens who will write the hour-long drama.

mxdwn TV recently reported on the swift cancellation of the female-centric MLB based drama Pitch. After just one season, Fox canceled the series due to its “delayed viewing,” said Fox’s Gary Newman during the network’s TCA last January, Deadline reports.
