Mark Hamill Returns to Voice Skeletor for Netflix’s ‘Masters of The Universe’ Featuring Kevin Smith as Showrunner

Mark Hamill (The Joker, Batman the Animated Series) has recently emerged from voice acting retirement to lend his villainous flare to the character Skeletor in Netflix’s new Masters of The Universe: Revelation anime, according to ComicBook. Kevin Smith (Silent Bob, Clerks II) will feature as the series showrunner and it will be continuation of the popular, He Man: Masters of the Universe animated series that premiered in the early 1980s.

Netflix’s continuation will be set after the events of the original series and feature a host of experienced talent. The cast includes Lena Headey (Cersei, Game of Thrones) as Evil-Lynn, Sarah Michelle Gellar (Buffy, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Teela, and of course the aforementioned Mark Hamill as the series main antagonist, Skeletor. Hamill took to social media to celebrate his continued involvement in the project and to encourage his fans to vote.

Originally, “He-Man Masters of The Universe” was an action figure line released by Mattel in 1982. After the success of the toys, the popular character was given a television series the following year in 1983. Fans will be happy to know that the official description of the show pays homage to the original content made in the 1980s and won’t ignore the established plot. “A radical return to Eternia, Revelation is a direct sequel series to the classic era of Masters of the Universe,” according to ComicBook.

The significance of this new series is that it will complete the storyline of He-Man Masters of The Universe and provide an explanation to inquisitive fans. “But after a ferocious final battle forever fractures Eternia, it’s up to Teela to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to prevent the end of the Universe! Her journey will uncover the secrets of Grayskull at last,” as reported by ComicBook. This way fans will finally get to see how the story of He-Man concludes and how he and his allies help save the universe.
