Disney+ Original Series ‘WandaVision’ Releases Never Before Seen Clip In Anticipation of January 15 Premiere

The Disney+ original series WandaVision gave fans a sneak peak of what’s to come in a never before seen clip that debuted on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night, via Entertainment Weekly. Set in the Marvel universe, the clip features stars of the show Elizabeth Olsen (Wind River) and Paul Bettany (Uncle Frank) reprising their roles as Wanda Maximoff and Vision respectively, as they live inside varying forms of sitcoms over the course of television.

In an ode to the golden era of television that includes famous 1960s sitcoms such as ABC’s Bewitched, and CBS’s The Dyke Van Dyke Show, the WandaVision clip released on Tuesday sees Wanda and Vision imitating the various beloved couples that inhabited the small screen during the sixties.

Olsen appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Tuesday night to discuss the show, face-timing in from London where she’s currently filming the Marvel movie, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of MadnessInterviewed by host Jimmy Kimmel (Dads), Olsen was extremely tightlipped as the widely anticipated Disney+ original has been kept on top secret lockdown.

As for the clip that debuted on the the late night show, Olsen said:“That is our sixties Bewitched episode.” An extremely popular sitcom that aired from 1964-1972, Bewitched follows Samantha Stephens, portrayed by Elizabeth Montgomery (The Legend of Lizzie Borden), who is a typical housewife and mother with a secret: she’s a witch. Married to the straight and arrow Darrin Stephens, first played by Dick York (Inherit the Wind) and then replaced by Dick Sargant (Live a Little, Love a Little), the series was one of the most central sitcoms to run throughout the sixties and early seventies as it depicted married life along with witchcraft and comedy sprinkled in.

Limited in what she could say about the upcoming show, Olsen described WandaVison as, “Wanda and Vision living their suburban sitcom dreams…We try to film each episode kind of as authentically as we could to each decade and in the fifties we filmed in front of a live studio audience…it was really strange and fun.” The various trailers that have been released in anticipation of the series premiere depict Wanda and Vision traveling through the changing decades as they adjust to the sitcom module accordingly, trapped inside an alternative universe.

There has been a cloud of mystery surrounding WandaVision with few breadcrumbs. The clues that have been dropped include several trailers that in contrast to today’s standards do not reveal major plot points but instead plant puzzling intrigue.

Along with Olsen and Bettany, the series features Kathryn Hahn (Mrs. Fletcher), Teyonah Parris (Mad Men), Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls), and Randall Park (Fresh Off the Boat). Debuting January 15, the first season will consist of nine episodes.
