Mario Lopez and Elizabeth Berkley Lauren Set to Return to Bayside High in ‘Saved by the Bell’ Sequel, Teaser Trailer Released by NBC’S Peacock

The doors of Bayside High, the iconic high school setting of ‘90s sitcom Saved by the Bell, are set to reopen in the television sequel. A trailer for the series was released Aug. 10 and will stream on NBC’s Peacock, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Mario Lopez (Access Hollywood) and Elizabeth Berkley Lauren (CSI: Miami) will reprise their respective roles as A.C. Slater and Jessie Spano. Zack Morris, played by Mark-Paul Gosselaar (Franklin & Bash), will also return to the Saved by the Bell world as the California governor. In his position, Morris has come under fire for closing a wide number of low-income schools. He proposes affected students attend one of the highest-performing schools in the state, his alma mater of Bayside High. What ensues with the influx of new students provides the overprivileged kids a comedic dose of reality. The high school will also fall under the watchful eye of the Principal Ronald Toddman, played by John Michael Higgins (Pitch Perfect).

The new cast of Bayside High students is fronted by Josie Totah (Jessie) and also features Dexter Darden (The Maze Runner), Haskiri Velazquez (Lost Girls), Mitchell Hoog (The Wrong Stepmother), Alycia Pascual-Peña (Chase) and Belmont Cameli (The Husband), via The Hollywood Reporter.

Tracey Wigfield (30 Rock), the creator of the reboot, will executive produce with the original series creator Peter Engel (City Guys) and Franco Bario (Great News). Lopez and Berkley also serve as producers. There has not yet been an announcement about when the reboot will air or stream. The teaser trailer can be seen below:
