‘Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power’ Production Interrupted By Fire

According to Variety, an electrical fire broke out on Monday morning at Bray Studios where Amazon’s, The Lord Of The Ring: The Rings of Power, was filming their second season. The fire was reported to have started in the warehouse on the perimeter of the backlot. Plumes of smoke were seen at the studio where filming was stopped to handle the fire before resuming an hour later. Neither cast nor crew evacuated the studio site and remained at Bray before resuming work. 

According to Variety, The Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service gave a statement that said, ‘’At 12:26pm on Monday, 3 April, we received reports of a fire at Bray Studios near Windsor. Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bracknell, Slough and Maidenhead Fire Stations were sent to the scene. Upon arrival, crews discovered a fire in a single story storage workshop located away from the filming set. Firefighters equipped with breathing apparatus used three hose reels and a main jet to extinguish the fire. Firefighters were on the scene for approximately four hours and 35 minutes. An investigation will take place to determine the cause of the fire.”

According to Variety, this isn’t the first time this year that the Amazon Prime series is based on J.R.R Tolkien’s (Lord Of The Rings) works experienced an emergency. On March 21st, the series had an issue with horse that suffered a cardiac arrest ahead of rehearsal. 

During the time an Amazon spokesperson had said, “We are deeply saddened to confirm that a production horse died on 21st March. The incident took place in the morning whilst the horse was being exercised prior to rehearsals. The trainer was not in costume and filming had yet to commence. Both a veterinarian and a representative of the American Humane Association were present at the time. The independent necropsy has confirmed that the horse died of cardiac failure.”
