On Friday, the annual Summer Game Fest was held, with many new video game projects being announced. Among the many projects announced, one stood out as a long-awaited favorite.
Among Us, a hit multiplayer game released in 2018, announced that a television show was in production almost 3 years ago, which many fans were excited for. After years of waiting, fans got what they wanted when the show revealed its first trailer at the Summer Game Fest.
Not only did the show get its first trailer, but it also shocked many fans by announcing that it was already released on Paramount+.
The show follows a similar premise to the video game it is based on. A group of Crewmates is on a space shuttle when one is murdered. An alien has replaced one of the Crewmates, and it is up to them to figure out who it is.
The Crewmates on the ship are all differentiated by color.
Orange (Yvette Nicole Brown), Red (Randall Park), Green (Elijah Wood), Cyan (Kimiko Glenn), Black (Liv Hewson), Purple (Ashley Johnson), Yellow (Debra Wilson), Brown (Phil LaMarr), Lime (Wayne Knight), Blue (Dan Stevens), and White (Patton Oswalt).
mxdwn made an article on the show when it was announced three years ago, giving information on the producers and other people behind the show’s production.
So far, the show has been well received by viewers, with reviewers like Charles Harte from Game Informer saying the show was “fun, not obsessed with game references, and makes a far more earnest attempt at depicting drama and death than I could have guessed.”
Only time will tell if this show will go down as a fan favorite to those who loved the game. Until that time comes, the show is available on Paramount+ for anyone interested in watching it.
