Lea Michele Confirms She’s Returning to “Scream Queens”

She’s back! After playing Hester in season one of Fox’s anthology series, Lea Michele confirmed to Extra that she’s returning to Scream Queens for the show’s second season. When host Mario Lopez asked if she was allowed to say whether she was returning to the show, Michele said she’s “100 percent coming back to Scream Queens.”

Scream Queens is produced by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuck, Ian Brennan and Alexis Martin Woodall. Murphy, Falchuck and Woodall also work together on FX’s popular anthology series American Horror Story. The four of them were also producers on Glee, which ended its six-season run in 2015.

This is Michele’s second series working with the producers as she starred as Rachel Berry in Glee.

The show got renewed for its second season on Jan. 15, 2016, according to Deadline. When news of the renewal broke, Michele tweeted about it and hinted that she would return as her character from the first season.

Jamie Lee Curtis is also expected to return to the show, much like how Jessica Lange returned for the first four seasons of American Horror Story.

The first season of Scream Queens took place at Wallace University, where a masked red devil was going around and murdering students, especially members of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority. The members of the sorority, especially its president, Chanel Oberlin (Emma Roberts), try to take matters into their own hands, as they think the school’s dean, Cathy Munsch (Jamie Lee Curtis) isn’t doing anything about it because of her grudge against the sorority.

In the end, it was discovered that Hester (Michele) and Boone (Nick Jonas) were behind the killings, though they convinced the authorities that it was Chanel and her “minions” Chanel #3 (Billie Lourd) and Chanel #5 (Abigail Breslin) were behind everything.

According to Deadline, the second season is going to be set in a hospital “where some of the most fascinating and bizarre medical cases are under observation.”

The premiere date for the second season hasn’t been announced yet or how many episodes the season will have, but Michele said they start filming this summer.

In the interview with Extra, Michele talked about how she’s working on new music for her second album, which she hopes will be out at the end of the year.

For six seasons, Michele played Rachel Berry on Fox’s musical comedy Glee. Before joining Glee, she was on Broadway, where she starred as the original Wendla in Spring Awakening.
