‘Last Kids On Earth’ Getting an Animated Series on Netflix

Max Brallier’s bestselling book series The Last Kids on Earth and the Cosmic Beyond is getting an animated series from Netflix. Scott Peterson (Emmy nominated writer for Phineas and Ferb) will be serving as the showrunner for the adventure comedy. The series is being produced by Thunderbird Entertainment’s animation studio Atomic Cartoons. Netflix and Atomic Cartoons do have a history together with them also producing Beat Bugs. From the animation studio both Jennifer McCarron and Matthew Berkowitz will executive produce. Brallier will also join as an executive producer; he will also join Peterson in co-writing the series.

The Last Kids on Earth follows a young teen named Jack Sullivan and a group of middle schoolers. They live in a tree house, in there they: play video games, eat a bunch of candy, and fight zombies in the aftermath of the monster apocalypse. It is a comedic series that is filled with wisecracking kids, crazy gadgets, a lifetime supply of zombies, and humongous monsters.

Brallier said, “I’m absolutely thrilled to be teaming with Atomic Cartoons. It is a delight to bring The Last Kids on Earth to life as an animated series. We are all fortunate to have such an incredible partner in Netflix.”

With the series already being produced, Netflix is set to stream Last Kids on Earth worldwide in 2019.
