Jonathan McDaniel Set to Reprise ‘That’s So Raven’ Role in ‘Raven’s Home’

The father of Raven’s twins in the Disney Channel’s highly anticipated spin-off of That’s So Raven has been revealed. E! Online confirmed that Jonathan McDaniel will reprise his role as Devon Carter from the original series in the upcoming spin-off, Raven’s Home. Many fans of the original series will be excited to learn that Devon is in fact the father of Raven’s children.

Fans will remember McDaniel’s character from Seasons 2 through 4 of That’s So Raven. He was introduced as a high school student that Raven, played by Raven Symoné, had a crush on. He ultimately became her first serious boyfriend. The high school sweethearts even remained committed to each other when Devon moved away from San Francisco to Seattle, though he came back to visit many times while his father made business trips.

While fans will be excited that Raven and Devon’s relationship lasted past high school and they eventually got married and had two kids, the couple is unfortunately divorced. Though without the divorce, the concept of the show would not be what it is.

Raven’s Home will follow the lives of Raven and her best friend Chelsea (Anneliese van der Pol) after the two single mothers move in together with their children. Raven has a set of 11-year-old twins, Nia (Navia Robinson) and Booker (Isaac Ryan Brown), while Chelsea has a son names Levi (Jason Maybaum). Sky Katz will also star as Tess, the best friend and neighbor of Nia and Booker.

Just like his mother, Booker has inherited powers to see into the future. Will he get into the same crazy situation his mother and her friends once did? Absolutely! Raven will also most likely get into some hilarious situations as she continues to use her powers to grow into the best mother and friend she can be.

Devon Carter may be the role McDaniel is best known for, but he also appeared in the pilot of the ABC turned TBS comedy Cougar Town and is currently a series regular on the VH1 scripted sports drama Hit the Floor.

With the news of Devon’s return, here’s to hoping other fan favorites like Alana Rivera (Adrienne Bailon), Bianca (Erica Rivera), Larry (David Henrie), Donna Cabonna (Anne-Marie Johnson), and the Boyz ‘N Motion will also make guest appearances.

Raven’s Home is set to premiere on Friday, July 21 on the Disney Channel at 10/9c following the world premiere of the Disney Channel Original Movie Descendants 2. The following episodes will air Friday nights at 8:30/7:30c beginning on July 28.
