Joe and Anthony Russo Producing ‘Deadly Class’ Series

The dangerous students of King’s Dominion High School are coming to television.

Deadline reports that indie comic label Image Comic’s Deadly Class is being adapted for TV. Rick Remender, co-creator and writer of the comic, and Captain America directors Joe and Anthony Russo are producing the series. Sony Pictures TV is developing the project and will shop it around soon.

Deadly Class, written by Remender with art by Wes Craig, is set in the late ’80s and follows student Marcus Lopez as he navigates the typical high school social pitfalls in a very unusual school. Lopez is a student at King’s Dominion High School, a school created to train the world’s up-and-coming assassins.

Remender is well known for both his mainstream comics and his indie material. He has worked for Marvel on Uncanny Avengers, Uncanny X-Force and Venom. On the indie side, Remender is known for Black Science, Fear Agent, LOW, Tokyo Ghost, Strange Girl and his futuristic noir Last Days of American Crime.

Remender and the Russos are executive producing the series along with Mike Larroca, Miles Feldsott and Adam Targum (Banshee). Remender and Feldsott are set to write the TV adaptation of Deadly Class together. Targum is set as the showrunner on the series. He is also a consulting producer on another TV series based on an Image comic, Cinemax’s Outcast.

If you are at SDCC, Remender is scheduled to be at Image’s booth on Friday from 1-2 p.m. and on Saturday from 4-5 p.m.
