Jason Rothenberg’s Seventh, Final Season of ‘The 100’ Airs on The CW Tonight

As part of a Netflix deal, The 100 will stream after all 16 episodes of season 7 have aired on The CW. The first episode of The 100’s last season will premiere May 20 at 8 p.m. ET, according to Decider.

Eliza Taylor (The Sleepover Club) will return as the show’s lead, Clarke Griffin. The show’s siblings, Octavia and Bellamy, will be played by Marie Avgeropoulos (Tracers) and Bob Morley (Road Kill). Lindsey Morgan (Beyond Skyline) as Raven Reyes, Shannon Kook (The Conjuring) as Lucas and Shelby Flannery (As They Fade) as Hope also return.

The 100, written by Jason Rothenberg (Searchers) is loosely based on Kass Morgan’s book series under the same name. The series follows a group of 100 delinquent teens as they determine if Earth is inhabitable after a nuclear apocalypse.

Season 6 ended on August 6, 2019 and marked the show’s 84th episode. Throughout the six seasons, Rothenberg’s writing led the teens through “two-world ending events, multiple wars, and more deaths than they could ever count,” Sydney Bucksbaum from Entertainment Weekly said. Bucksbaum also wrote that season 7’s message would go beyond seasons 1-6 where the main goal was “simply to survive.”

As for the message of season 7, he said lead Clarke’s mission is going to “literally to the ends of the universe to get her people back, her family back, and people that she loves back,” via Entertainment Weekly.
