Ioan Gruffudd Cast in Season Two of ‘UnREAL’

Love is in the air again on Lifetime’s spoof of The Bachelor, but it’s not for who you may think. After breaking up with boss Chet at the end of the first season, Quinn is once again a single lady – though it may not be for long. According to Variety, Ioan Gruffudd has been cast in UnREAL as recurring character John Booth, who’s described as “ruggedly handsome, optimistic and curious with the breezy demeanor of a man who owns the world. He’s quick minded, adventurous, has a good sense of humor, and no challenge is too huge for him.”

Fans of Gruffudd will recognize him as Mr. Fantastic from the Fantastic Four franchise. He was also the star of ABC’s show Forever, which, despite a dedicated fanbase, was canceled after one season. He also guest starred on Fox’s Glee, ABC’s Castle and the CW’s Ringer, which starred Sarah Michelle Gellar.

Season two of UnREAL is set to feature a new cast of characters for the fictional show Everlasting, which is essentially a spoof of ABC’s The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. The show looks at the behind-the-scenes crew of Everlasting and looks at how the crew manipulates the contestants into playing certain “roles” that are seen on other dating shows. The show also looks into the personal lives of executive producer Quinn King (Constance Zimmer) and Rachel Goldstein (Shiri Appleby).

This season of the show is set to feature the first African American bachelor, something that the actual Bachelor and Bachelorette series have yet to do. For season two, Gentry White will portray Darius Hill, the new bachelor looking for love, and Kim Matula and Meagan Tandy will be portraying two of his potential love interests.

When UnREAL premiered on Lifetime last summer, it was a ratings success for the network, even leading Lifetime to release the second, third and fourth episodes online for people to watch after the first episode premiered.

Season two of UnREAL is set to premiere on June 6 at 10 p.m. on Lifetime. For those who don’t want to wait for more of the show, the first season is available to stream on Hulu Plus and Lifetime has produced a web series that centers on Faith, one of the contestants from the first season, as reported by TVLine.
