Hulu’s ‘Shrill’ Series Gets Release Date and New Photo’s of Season 2

The Hulu Original Series, Shrill with Saturday Night Live comedian, Aidy Bryant, has officially announced its released date for season 2 as well as new photos for its upcoming season.

The news about the series renewal has been known since April but now audiences won’t have to wait very long with the series release date expected to drop on January 4th, 2020 on Hulu’s streaming service. (Instagram announcement post below)

The series is based on co-showrunner Lindy West’s book called “Shrill: Notes from a Loud Woman” and revolves around Annie played by Aidy Bryant (SNL), who is described as a young and ambitious woman who as an aspiring journalist is craving to learn how to live life without the concern of any expectations but her own. This comes after attending a “fat girl pool party” (a storyline in season 1), that makes Annie recognize what it is like to be self-confident and have an appreciation for oneself. This leads to Annie to find out who she is as a person by living in the moment and reconsidering her life choices like her relationship with her lazy boyfriend, her family pressures, and an overwhelming work life.

Season 2 is set to continue to explore Annie’s relationships that were developed in the previous season but will ultimately have Annie questioning in the end whether or not this quest for self-reevaluation was really worth all the effort. Meanwhile Annie’s best friend and roommate, Fran seems to be going through a similar conflict. Season 1 premiered earlier in the 2019 year with a 6 episode stretch for the season. After being well received by viewers, season 2 will be extended with an additional 2 episodes to be added for an overall 8 episode season.

Not only does Bryant star in the show but also wrote the show alongside showrunners Ali Rushfield, Lindy West, Andrew Singer, and Max Handelman and Executive Producers Lorne Michaels and Elizabeth Banks (who has recently directed and starred in the new reiteration of Charlie’s Angels).
