After teasing the populous with its stars’ uncanny transformations, Hulu has released the first trailer for its upcoming limited series, Pam & Tommy via Consequence. Lily James (Cinderella, Baby Driver) and Sebastian Stan (Captain America: Winter Soldier, The Devil All the Time) are taking on the iconic roles of 90s celebrity couple, Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee, in a retelling of how their intimate sex tape became a national scandal. According to Consequence, the eight-part series begins in 1995, when the then-Baywatch actress and Motley Crew drummer first met. Following a mere four days of knowing each other, the two married and soon became one of Hollywood’s most famous couples. That fame and attention reached an unprecedented level when a copy of their private honeymoon activities became public on the internet. Apart from the couple’s relationship, the series will dive into the legal strife caused by this incident, which was an unknown territory in the early days of the world wide web.
While neither Anderson nor Lee had any involvement with the project, Consequence confirms they know it exists with Lee giving his blessing for the limited series.
“I know Sebastian, he’s playing me. From what he’s told me, really beautiful story,” Lee said via Consequence. “I think a lot of people would think it’s one thing, but it’s really about privacy and how things got crazy then. There’s different laws now.”
Along with Stan and James, Consequence reports Seth Rogen (An American Pickle, The Green Hornet) will play Rand, the random who confiscated said footage. He is joined by Nick Offerman (DEVS, Parks and Recreation) who plays Rand’s accomplice and amateur porn aficionado, Uncle Miltie. Taylor Schilling (Orange Is the New Black, The Prodigy) is Rand’s wife and 80s comedian, Andrew Dice Clay (A Star Is Born, Dice Rules) will appear as a mobster.
Rogen is serving double duty as he is an executive producer along with his frequent collaborator, Evan Goldberg (This Is the End, Superbad), according to Consequence. The series is being directed by I, Tonya helmer, Craig Gillespie.
Pam & Tommy debuts on Hulu on February 2, 2022.
