Hulu Originals ‘Harlots’ And ‘Reprisal’ Cancelled

As Variety reports, Hulu has ordered the cancellation of two short-lived dramas, Harlots and ReprisalHarlots released its third and final season in August of 2019 while Reprisal debuted its first season in December of 2019.

Harlots is set in 18th century London starring Samantha Morton (The Walking Dead, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as a brothel owner named Margaret Wells and her two daughters Charlotte, played by Jessica Brown Findlay (Winter’s Tale), and Lucy, played by Eloise Smyth (The Frankenstein Chronicles). The story follows their struggle to keep their business afloat when attacked by their arch-rival Lydia Quigley, played by Lesley Manville (Maleficent). The show was initially released in 2017 and arose from the creative team of Moira Buffini (Loveplay), Alison Newman (Rocketman, Family Affairs), Alison Carpenter (Ghosts, Maids), Alison Owen (Saving Mr. Banks, Jane Eyre), and Debra Hayward (Les Misérables, Cats), via Variety

In Reprisal, Kathrine Harlow, played by Abigail Spencer (Timeless, Rectify), seeks revenge against her brother Burt, played by Rory Cochrane (Dazed and Confused, CSI: Miami) and his gang after they leave her for dead. Alongside Spencer and Cochrane, Reprisal starred Rodrigo Santoro (300, Westworld), Mena Massoud (Aladdin, Run This Town), Rhys Wakefield (The Purge), and Madison Davenport (The Possession). The series hailed from the minds of The Handmaid’s Tale executive producer, Warren Littlefield (Horrible Bosses, Glory Daze) and Josh Corbin (StartUp), via Deadline.

Renewal decisions regarding Hulu’s High Fidelity, Castle Rock, and Normal People have not been made yet. Meanwhile, Hulu has added more comedies and dramas to their platform, including Golden Globe Award-winning series Ramy, Pen15, Dollface, Shrill, and Solar Opposites as well as The Great and Little Fires Everywhere, both of which were released just months ago on the streaming platform.
