Hulu Greenlights ‘Punk Ass Bitch,’ a Comedy Pilot from Comedian Chris Estrada, ‘Corporate’ Creators and Fred Armisen

Punk Ass Bitch, a thirty-minute comedy pilot from Los Angeles comedian Chris Estrada (Corporate), has been greenlit by Hulu, according to Deadline. Estrada will star as Julio Lopez, a “punk ass bitch with a heart of gold” living in South Central.

The series is inspired by Estrada’s life in LA, particularly his formative years of “running from loose pit bulls, getting robbed and geeking out over comic books and punk rock,” according to Deadline.

Lopez, the focus of Punk Ass Bitch, is selfless but clueless, and the series chronicles his attempts to be a good citizen, while also dealing with his familial issues and the problems of being working class in LA, according to Deadline.

Estrada wrote the pilot with Jonathan Groff (black-ish), as well as Jake Weisman, Matt Ingebretson and Pat Bishop, who created Comedy Central series Corporate, according to Deadline. Estrada will also executive produce with Groff, Weisman, Ingebretson, Bishop and Fred Armisen (Portlandia). Bishop is set to direct the pilot and serve as co-showrunner alongside Weisman and Ingebretson.

Comedy Central recently highlighted Estrada as an “UpNext” Comedian to Watch, and Estrada also recently put out a special for HBO Latino, titled Entre Nos, according to Deadline.
